Cross Country Season 2024

Hey Pirate Fans

We just finished up an amazing Track and Field Spring season, with several of our runners and Field athletes qualifying for the regional and national meets. We are super proud of those athletes and of all 30 of our athletes that came and worked hard at practices or meets!! As usual these runners braved the crazy New England spring, which includes meets where the athletes had to bundle up in winter and rain gear, then other meets where it was 90 degrees out! We hope to bring on more kids these season who want to experience the fun of being a Windward Pirate.

Logistics:

For those who are new, some info on our team! We are for kids ages 7-18. We are a US Track and Field Club team which means anyone from any town can join. For cross country season this year, we will start practices on August 27th. Our practices this season will be on Tuesdays and Fridays, starting off at 5-6:30pm. As the sunlight starts to dip earlier as the fall moves into October and November, we may adjust the time to an early start time so that we don't practice in the dark. We practice at Lead Mills in Marblehead, Forest River in Salem and sometimes we use the tack at the Swampscott High School. Meets are held on weekends at various Boston area locations. Cross Country season runs from August to November.

The cost of a season is $225. This includes the training at practices and a singlet. Additional fees may be invoiced for meet registration fees. If you are not already a USATF member, your runner will need to become one to participate in the meets.
